The Wednesday Weekly – Issue 132 – 5 Top Gameboy Games

On 21st April 2019, the original Gameboy celebrated it’s 30th birthday. To celebrate with it, here are five of the top Gameboy games.

1) Tetris

Like it’d be anything else. This incredibly simple yet addictive game came packaged with the console when you bought it, and has seen many revisions over the years. There’s nothing quite like the original though.

2) Pokémon Red / Blue

The two games that started it all, and even had a remake (Yellow) made not too long after their release. Catching all of the 151 creatures in the games takes some time (and commitment of course), but you could at least say that you managed it.

3) The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Considered as one of the best Zelda games, this was one of the first to be released on the 3DS‘s Virtual Console. It has been seen by some as a weird title in the series, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

4) Donkey Kong

When you first start this game up, you’ll think you’ve probably played it before on an arcade machine. You’d be right too – the first four levels are the same. Beyond that, however, it is it’s own separate, new (now old of course) game.

5) Super Mario Land

It wouldn’t really be a Nintendo list without Mario! This had the usual side scrolling, turtle jumping action we’re used to, with the added bonus(!) that we had to start from the beginning all over again after we switched off.
