The other week we looked at five ways of healing in video games, and this week we’ll be looking at the opposite of that – ways to die in video games! It’s almost a certainty that death will happen to your character in most games, and here are some ways you can.
1) Go Into Higher-Level Areas
There are a number of games these days that feature a levelling-up system for your character. The best way to not die is to roam around the areas of the map that your character’s level falls into or is above. A pretty much sure-fire way to die, however, is to wander into areas with way higher levels than your character is able to deal with.
2) Stand In The Way of Bad Guys Shooting At You
This is a really silly say to die in games. I mean really silly. If someone (or a group of people) happens to take shots at you, you get out of the way. You take shot after shot and end up dead, and then you have to try again (and again and again).
3) Step Off / Fall From A Really High Place
This is a guaranteed character killer – unless you’re immortal or in possession of a parachute. Sometimes, stepping off of somewhere high is simply a case of seeing how good the physics are. Other times, it could just be people being silly or missing the next ledge.
4) Go Into the Water
This is something that’s not seen too much these days, but back in Grand Theft Auto Vice City and even Red Dead Redemption, going into water used to be lethal to our characters. Now, we get to make them swim!
5) Shoot Explosives That You’re Near
Whether it’s a petrol (gas) station in Grand Theft Auto or those pesky yet iconic red barrels that seem to be shared across most every game, shooting something explosive that you’re close to is not a smart plan. You’ll lose either most of your health or indeed all of it.

Until next time, keep gaming!
Great post 😁
